Money is but a symbol to which we have given a value. It represents the value of goods and services. Before money was invented, products and services were exchanged directly. This exchange was called barter. You sell a good to a person who has a good that you need. This means of transaction was cumbersome. Money became the medium through which business and trade was transacted. When you sell a good you get money in return with which you can buy what you need. It made trade and exchange of products much easier. Money underwent change in its forms through history, from coins made of precious metals such as gold, silver and copper to bank notes or currency. Now digital money or virtual currency is also being used as a medium of transactions.
The first country in the world to introduce paper money was china in the 13th century. In 1661, Sweden became the first country in Europe to introduce paper currency. Sweden was facing a problem with its copper coins which had a low real value. They had to introduce bigger and bigger coins to buy things which had a higher value. This posed a major practical problem. So they introduced paper money. Paper money was not only easier to produce but also easier to handle. Paper money soon began to be adopted as a medium of transactions in a widespread manner. In order to give the paper money an intrinsic value, the government backed it up with precious metals which they bought and stored. By 1990 most industrialized countries linked up their currency to gold standard. This was followed with the de-linking of the gold standard from money and instead became a valued tender by virtue of government fiat.

Investment is central to business management as well as finance and economics. Instead of consuming the resources, when these resources are allocated for the creation of future benefits, then such allocation is called investment. Earning of profit and future income is the basic motive for investment. Assets that fulfill these are the objects of such investments by individuals or organizations. Moreover it is the assets that have a lower risk with a potential of profit or income that are where investments are most likely to be made. But if the asset or instrument is not properly analyzed for its risk and potential benefits with the real possibility of even the loss of the principal invested, and yet investment is made, then this is speculation and not investment.
Investments differ in economics and finance. In economics, investment mean investing on productive real assets such as tangible goods as a factory, machines or a house or intangibles as education or training. In finance, investment refers to financial assets as investment in bank deposits, money markets or capital markets or even in liquid assets as precious metals, real estate, shares, equity, bonds, foreign currencies, or collectibles. Investments can be made indirectly through intermediaries. These intermediaries include banks, mutual funds, pension funds, insurance companies, collective investment schemes, and investment clubs. These intermediaries then make investment decisions either on real assets or financial assets to earn an income or profit which then are shared with the original investors. Alternatively, investors can invest directly in shares or buy assets. Investment comes with a risk of capital loss.

Investments are also sometimes speculative investment. But investment is not the same as speculation. There are very distinct differences between them. Investment is made on financial assets or financial vehicles with the intention of earning money in the future. An earning is made when the financial assets or vehicles are sold at a higher rate than when they were initially bought. The investment becomes speculative when the investor makes the investment without adequately assessing them. The investment is speculative when the investment poses a high risk or it may even be unsafe. The risk might be so high that it may even lead to losing the actual sum invested.
Expectation that the price of the asset will increase in the future is why the speculator invests. Economic, environmental, social and political factors also can influence the price. Even rumors cause the price to fluctuate. The factors that led to the fluctuation may not even be directly connected to the asset. For instance, the prospects of a government falling may cause market fluctuation even before anything has happened to the government. Investment in gold and oil by its very nature are speculative. Sometimes, investors buy an asset with the intention of short selling, the investment is then speculative. Speculative investment is when investors hold, buy, sell and short sell stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, derivatives, real estate, collectibles and other valuable financial assets with the sole idea of making profits from the fluctuations in price rather than its real value.
A rapidly expanding economic activity in the world is currency trading in the forex market. The selling and buying of currencies are investment as well as speculation. The extent of speculative trading is higher in the foreign exchange market. The main market players in the forex market are the governments, banks, brokers and financial institutions. The derivative Forex are determined by the prevailing exchange rate between any pair of currencies.
The holding time of the financial asset is the clear indication of whether the investment is speculative or not. The shorter holding time indicate that the investment is speculative. Though there is always the dimension of speculation in every investment, it is not the main objective of investment.

Every country came out with their own banknotes or currencies. They were given different names such as Dinar, Franc, Lira, Krone, Mark, Peso, Pound, Rial, Ruble, and Rupee. Some gave the same name but of different value such as dollar for the United States, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Zimbabwe. Some countries adopted a common currency as Euro by the European Union. The trade between countries was to be transacted with their respective currencies. This required that exchange rates between currencies are to be fixed. These were fixed by the central bank and the government. Banks and governments have to sell and buy currencies in order to facilitate international trade.
The demand for a particular currency increased when its exports increased. This led to an increase in the value of that currency. However, with liberalization of trade, currency became floating with its rates determined by the market factors of demand and supply. The currency market emerged where currency began to be traded as a commodity. Increasingly speculators moved in the form of currency traders and money managers. Very soon the bulk of currency trading became speculative. The exchange rate began to be also influenced by speculation in currencies.

By the 13th century itself, paper money emerged with China as the first country to adopt paper money. In 1661 Sweden too shifted over to paper money and was the first European country to do so. Sweden’s copper based money system was too difficult to handle when the goods to be traded was of higher value. Paper money soon spread as it was easy to produce, take anywhere and transact. Moreover, the respective governments too backed it up by linking the currency to gold standard till about 1990. But this was soon abandoned. Now it has a floating rate with the market itself determining its rate.

The foreign exchange market is growing at a rapid rate. Investment and trade in currencies has been expanding. The number of players too is expanding. The foreign exchange market is also influenced by the psychology and thinking of the traders and the investors. The investors will seek to transfer their wealth to a safer haven if they feel that it is not safe in a particular country. This can be caused by events that can be internal or even external to a country. That is when currency flees from one country to elsewhere that looks safer. This will increase the value or exchange rate of the currency of the safe haven. Switzerland is one of the most established and reputed safe haven for money. This is so because of the policy of Switzerland in maintaining secrecy about bank accounts and transactions. The Swiss Franc has remained strong and a well tested currency.
The foreign exchange market is sensitive to the way that traders and investors think and behave. If they believe that there is something adverse that is likely to happen, the rates begin to fall even before the event has taken place. The reverse too takes place. Rumors are enough to make the market react. Alternatively, the rate of the currency begins to rise up in anticipation of something positive. This also happens even before the incident takes place. All these lead to a situation where the market is either over-bought or over-sold. This market reaction is because the investors and traders over react either in panic or in excitement of a windfall.
Understanding how the foreign exchange market operates is basic. There are also a number of programs that you can purchase which works on all trading platforms. The Forex Killer reviews provides details of a program that not only guides you into Forex market but you can also do live trading.
Understanding the factors that influence the foreign exchange market is also important in order to understand how the market behaves. The market may be unduly influenced by certain numbers that reflect such issues as inflation, trade balance, employment and money supply. This is more out of the belief that these would affect the exchange rate more than it really does. The traders often tend to give these factors more importance that what really is.
If the Forex market is hard to understand, find out how you can understand it. One way, is to undergo through the different Forex programs so you can understand the Forex market.

Investments can also be speculative investments. It becomes speculation when the investment is made without adequate analysis. Or the investor is only interested in short-term investments. This type of investment carries a higher risk as they depend on fluctuation in the prices of the assets where the price does not directly reflect the real value of the asset.
Speculative investment can do both harm and benefit at the same time. The demand for a product becomes high when it is in short supply. This drives up its cost. A section of the consumers finds it difficult to buy the product. This will in turn make the supply longer while excluding a section of the consumers. But then the anticipation of a higher demand and more profits with higher cost can lead to hoarding. This further leads to increase of the price of the product. On the other hand, the higher price acts as an incentive to increase production and for importing the product if need be.
Speculative buying and selling influences the price of the asset. Increased buying leads to higher price. The price falls with speculative selling. The price may even decline below its real value when the selling is more and in a short time. Speculative buying could drive up the price. When an even higher increase in price is anticipated, this fuels speculative buying driving up its price very high. This could follow with a loss of confidence leading to panic sales making the price crash to the bottom. This becomes a bubble that burst. A major economic activity is the foreign exchange market. Speculative investment is high in this market. There are many ways to understand how the market operates. One way is to learn from the many publications some of which are the London Forex Rush, Forex Trading Made E-Z, Learn Forex Live, System and Forex Breakout strategy.
Unstable prices results from short-term volatility due to increased speculative investment. This leads to what is called as economic bubbles which are run away uncontrolled speculation. Economic bubble bursts seems to have increased in recent times. This has even had a cascading effect leading to the larger economy going on the down slide. There have been a number of suggestions made to control or regulate or even ban speculative investment. Banning speculative trading in certain commodities such as oil is one concrete suggestion. Yet another suggestion is to impose a penalty of 1 percent or lesser on short term speculation in currencies as a kind of tax. Named after James Tobin, the proposed tax is called Tobin Tax.
Getting involved in a Forex business is not an easy task at all. So whatever happens, a business person should always be determined and dedicated to make his business successful.

Electronic Currency Trading is now available for anyone wanting to make a profit. This method involves buying and selling currencies from all over the world.
The Currency Exchange market is without a doubt the biggest financial market in the world. Three trillion dollars are traded every day, this volume is huge compared to the stock market. Many would say trading currencies is a lot better than trading stocks.
The volume of the Forex market is so big that trades are executed instantly, and so liquidity is a major advantage over the Stock Market where you have to wait for trades to be executed. Major currencies are being traded every day like the Euro and the US Dollar along with many other important currencies in the world.
Another good advantage is the hours, FX Currency trading opens Sunday evening and closes Friday night so there is a vast opportunity to trade currencies in the late hours or the early hours of the day, for example the London market opens at 3 AM while the US market opens at 9 and the Tokyo market opens in the evening so there is always an opportunity to place trades.
Leverage is another very good advantage of FX trading; with fairly small capital the trader is able to manage large amounts of money, for example with as little as $50 you are able to manage $10,000, so the potential is huge for big profits and it’s also huge for big loses so practicing, and learning is a must in the FX market.
Many online brokers are also available, most of them offer a practice account. This account allows the trader to learn about strategies and different skills to succeed in currency trading.
FX Currency Trading is slowly emerging as a force for new investors looking for the big profits unfortunately many don’t educate themselves and end up losing everything, so learning and practicing until skills are learned and applied in a practice setting needs to happen before investing with real money.
Start making money with Electronic Currency Trading.
